ANGEL TREE UPDATE: If you have selected family number 11, 18, or 20, please call the church office at 445-9845 or Elizabeth Randall at 277-1743. One family remains to be sponsored from our Angel Tree. Please help us make sure that each of our twenty (20) families receive a wonderful Christmas this year.

HOME FAMILY ADVENT SERVICE leaflets may obtained in the Narthex and in the Parish Hall near the bulletin board.

DURING THE FOUR WEEKS OF ADVENT, St. James will explore the world of C.S. Lewis’ Narnia by re-visiting his classic novel, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. After the 10:30 a.m. service, this Sunday, November 23rd, there will be a Narnia party in the Parish Hall/Parlor, and you may pick up your materials for the class at that time.

The first class begins next Sunday, November 30th, at 9:15 a.m. with:
“Tea With Mr. Tumnus” Fr. Fred / Parlor
“Aslan’s World” Fr. Mike / Walker Building
“My Own Lamppost” Children’s Sunday School / Upstairs

EXPRESSIONS OF JOY: Sunday, December 7, 2008, 2:30 pm at the Coughlin Saunders Performing Arts Center. Parish Life has planned an afternoon filled with holiday music and excitement courtesy of the Rapides Symphony Orchestra and the Red River Chorale, This is a fabulous opportunity for us to gather as a church family for an afternoon of fellowship and holiday cheer. If a total of 20 or more people make a reservation, a $10.00 discount will be given on each Adult ticket. Now that’s a bargain! So bring the family, extend an invitation to a friend or neighbor to join us. Do you know someone from the church who would like to go but needs transportation? The Symphony, with its special guest, the Red River Chorale, is again pleased to present a holiday concert for the whole family. The concert will also include a piece voted on by the audience! To reserve your tickets please call the church office at 445-9845.

ADULTS $25.00
($15.00 with a total of 20 or more seats reserved in St. James’ name)
SENIORS $15.00
STUDENTS $10.00
2 ADULTS + children $50.00

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS: St. James’ parish family is invited each Christmas to make a contribution to the glory of God and in memory or honor of loved ones. This is not only an appropriate way to honor those who have gone before us, but these gifts make it possible to decorate the church in a festive manner. Please send the list of name/s of those you wish to remember with your check to the church office no later than Thursday, December 18, 2008.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT: taking place during the 5:30 p.m. service on Christmas Eve. Participants (and their parents) should arrive by 5:00 p.m. that evening. There will be ONE and only ONE practice which will be immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, December 21st. Please meet in the church that day. Questions? Please phone Amy Norton, 318-445-9669.

FIREFIGHTER'S PANTRY: Don’t forget to bring your donations of coffee, sugar/sweetener, and creamer to help our cities firefighters. These donations are greatly appreciated by the men and women in our service.

THE GREETERS MINISTRY at St. James helps our church extend God's message of love and friendship to visitors who enter our doors each Sunday. We invite you to be a part of "putting out the welcome mat" in an intentional,
organized way this fall. We are currently scheduling greeters for November
and December. If you are willing to participate in this important ministry
one Sunday during these months, please contact Melanie Torbett at 445-1943
or email her at mtorb@suddenlink.net. --the Evangelism Committee

ONLINE GIVING is now available! For those of you who pay your bills by
computer and your church contribution is about the only check you write,
we've made giving easier for you. Simply go to the top left corner of every page on this website and click on the DONATE button. The contribution page will come up and simply follow the directions. If you do not have a computer, but would like to have your contributions drafted from your checking account or charged to your credit card each month, please fill out the enrollment form mailed to you and return to the office. Extra forms are available in the narthex or in the church office. You may pay by check or credit card. If you have any questions, please call Mary at the office at 445-9845.

KROGER NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR DONATION FUND: The Kroger Share Card Program has ended and St. James’ card members purchased $107,849.30 at Kroger’s this past year, totaling $1,078.49 in profit, with 25% of this amount going to the St. James Day School. Kroger has implemented a new program, Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation Program. You no longer have to use a card. Simply pick up a letter with the St. James barcode on the bottom, present your KrogerPlus card to the cashier along with the letter. The cashier will scan both and St. James will be attached to your KrogerPlus card. Every time you shop at Kroger and use your KrogerPlus card, Kroger will donate a percentage of your eligible purchases to the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation fund. At the end of each quarter, St. James will receive a percentage of this fund. Once a card is scanned with the barcode of St. James, it will be active for the remainder of the program year. You can also go to: http://www.krogerneighbortoneighbor.com/pdf/10000080808.pdf
and print out a letter that you will take to Kroger the next time you go shopping.
