in the way he should go: and when he is old,
he will not depart from it.

St. James Sunday School & Nursery Care

  • Sunday School
  • Nursery Care

By virtue of our baptismal vows, we are called to assist one another
and ourselves in growing, sustaining and learning the ways of our Christian faith. St. James continues to have several offerings to help all ages do just that.

Our children learn via a method called Workshop Rotation Model. Based on the educational model of multiple intelligences, this Model offers students a chance to discover Bible stories using all of their senses. Through movies, art, drama, science, cooking and others, we hope to reach children where they are comfortable learning. Classes begin at 9:15 am upstairs in the classrooms over the Parish Hall. The class is intended for elementary school age children (3rd to 6th grades). We have two classes. Classes rotate through themed workshops in which they learn the same story two Sundays in a row, presented in two different ways.

In addition, children under kindergarten age are welcome in our nursery where the most beginning moments of Christian Formation are experienced.

Fr. Michael is teaching a class during the Epiphany Season that is a Bible study of the readings for the day. The class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the Walker Building. Hope to see you there!

The Adult Forum, meets in the Parlor and is led by Fr. Fred, The topic is a 14 session study of the Gospel according to Luke – a uniquely inclusive message of Good News for all people. The Third Evangelist speaks a word of hope to the outcast and the establishment, to the religious as well as to those who seek a deeper and more abiding relationship with the living Christ. The Gospel according to Luke speaks to women, to men, to the strong and healthy as well as the weak and dispossessed. The relevance of the third Gospel in the present day continues to inspire faith, spirituality, and action. Come join us for this study. The class will convene at 9:15 am each Sunday morning. All are welcome. If you wish to be part of this engaging study, please call the parish office (445-9845) or e-mail Cheryl Chalah to ask her to add your name to the list and reserve a copy of the Resource Guide.
